Do you have a physical location?

Nope! For now La Buqueria functions exclusively as a pop-up shop. Feedback from the community has been amazing, though, and we hope to expand to a mobile shop in the future, and possibly a brick and mortar someday!

Can you pop up at my event / school / etc.?

We would LOVE to hear about any events you know of or are hosting where you think La Buqueria would be a good partner. Drop us a message and let's coordinate!

We are currently approved as a vendor for Chula Vista Elementary School district, and are working on approvals for other San Diego County school districts. We can create custom book fairs for those within CVESD, or one-day popups for those in other districts.

Do you sell books online?

We do! We partner with Bookshop.org in order to offer a huge selection of books that will ship right to your door. All of our book lists on this site are linked through to Bookshop, and we earn a commission on purchases made through those links.

Bookshop.org is an amazing B-Corp with a mission to financially support local, independent bookstores in the US and UK. It offers a convenient, ethically conscious alternative to Amazon (and its prices are comparable, and often better!), allowing customers to buy books online while giving over 65-75% of profit margins to independent sellers.

Do you accept donations?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely!

At this time we can *only* accept donations of Spanish or bilingual (ES/EN) books. Books must be in excellent saleable condition, with no rips, tears, mold, water damage, library stamps, or writing on the pages. Light wear is ok!

We do not accept books from Little Free Libraries. Any books we cannot use, we will pass on to the Chula Vista Friends of the Library, or recycle if appropriate.

Where do you get your books?

We source books directly from a number of publishers, and occasionally from overstock sites (older publication dates, but still in new condition). We also source used books from donations and a variety of suppliers.

Can you help me find a book about ________ for my kid?

Yes, yes, and more yesses! This is the part of bookselling I absolutely LOVE. A great place to start is our book lists, which you can look through at your own pace. If you can't find what you need, message me and I'll help you find the perfect book for your kiddo's interest and/or reading level in Spanish or English. I can even help you create a wishlist or registry for special events (birthdays, holidays, baby showers, teacher appreciation day, etc!).
